A woman riding her bike in New Hampshire was shot and wounded by a hunter who was aiming at a deer, authorities said.
The 27-year-old woman was riding her mountain bike on Hall Road in Elm Brook Park in Hopkinton around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday when she was struck by bullet fragments, New Hampshire Fish and Game officials said in a statement Wednesday.
She was traveling east on the road, property of the US Army Corps of Engineering, in a heavily wooded area, police said. She came to a clearing and heard a single gunshot before realizing she had been struck by a bullet.

She was treated at Concord Hospital and released Tuesday evening, police said.
State Fish and Game officers and Hopkinton police interviewed a 34-year-old suspect from Hopkinton at the scene but are still investigating.
The initial investigation suggests the suspect was shooting at a deer and didn’t see the woman in the background, authorities said.
The investigation is ongoing, authorities said. Potential charges against the hunter remained undetermined as of Wednesday morning.
