Skeletal remains were found Wednesday in a wooded area of Waltham, police said.
Waltham police responded to a call just after noon involving the discovery of the remains off of Lexington Street, the department said in a statement.
There is “no reason for concern to the public,” police said.
Waltham police detectives, State Police detectives assigned to the Middlesex district attorney’s office, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are investigating, the statement said.
Waltham Detective Sergeant Tim King declined to provide further information when reached by phone Wednesday night.
Trooper Paul Sullivan, a State Police spokesman, referred questions to the district attorney’s office.
