    Man and woman face charges in fatal Brockton shooting

    A man and a woman were set to be arraigned Thursday afternoon in connection with a double shooting Saturday night in Brockton that left one man dead and another hurt, prosecutors said.

    Renardo Williams, 24, of Brockton will be charged with murder and assault with intent to murder, and Chanel Martins, 29, of Taunton will be charged with accessory after the fact, Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz’s office said in a statement.

    The Saturday night shooting killed Bethgy Cator, 26, of Avon, and injured another victim, police said. The two victims were sitting in a car in the 139 Pleasant St. parking lot around 10:15 p.m. Saturday when they were both shot.

    District attorney’s office spokeswoman Beth Stone said the nature of the relationship between Williams and Martins is unclear at this time.

    Prosecutors said the surviving victim, whose identity has not been released, remains hospitalized.

    State Police patrolling Interstate 84 eastbound in Sturbridge on Wednesday night spotted Williams’s vehicle and placed the two suspects under arrest around 8:30 p.m., prosecutors said.

    Williams and Martins were scheduled to be arraigned in Brockton District Court, prosecutors said. The investigation is ongoing.
