Providence Deputy Police Chief Thomas Oates said police found Charles Bettencourt of New Bedford unconscious Friday morning in a lot near Club Ultra. Witnesses said he had been arguing with several men when he was punched in the head and knocked to the ground. Bettencourt was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he died Saturday afternoon. The investigation is ongoing. Oates said several people were being interviewed Monday.
