Body, box marked ‘explosive’ found in Halifax condo

HALIFAX -- After a man in his 70s was found dead Monday in a closet in his condominium, authorities discovered a box marked “explosive,” forcing about 20 neighbors to evacuate while a State Police bomb squad investigated, according to a fire official. Halifax Fire Chief William Carrico said near the scene on Lydon Lane that firefighters found the man, whom the local police department identified as David Pierce, at about 5 p.m. Halifax Police Chief Michael Manoogian said at the scene that there was no indication of foul play.
