1 killed, 4 hospitalized after canoe capsizes

A Leominster man died when the canoe he was riding in with four other people capsized in the Notown Reservoir, near the Fitchburg line, early Saturday morning, officials said. A Worcester County district attorney spokesman identified the man as Julio Perez, 31. Perez was pronounced dead at 3:52 a.m. in HealthAlliance Hospital Leominster Campus. The accident also left three men and one woman in critical condition, State Police said.
