Curbing health care costs may cost state $40 million a year

The state will have to spend money to save money on health care costs, according to preliminary estimates from Governor Deval Patrick’s administration.

The cost to the state of imple­menting cost-control legislation being finalized by House and Senate leaders could be $20 million to $40 million a year, the governor’s staff said yesterday.
