Revising Mitt Romney’s career at Bain

We were warned that Mitt Romney is a man of Etch A Sketch moments. This turns out to be true, and not in a playful way.

How else to explain how someone can be the president, CEO, and sole shareholder of a company, yet have no involvement in it?

"Many observers, on both sides of the aisle, believe that Romney's greatest vulnerability as a candidate is that voters just can't figure out what to make of this man whose life has never resembled most of ours." For instance, in my life, my mom always told me the most important thing is to always tell the truth, because once you lose people's trust, it's almost impossible to ever regain it. but then again, unlike Romney, my mom didn't envision how much spin-meistering you could do with millions of dollars from the Koch brothers.

Adrian Walker, You are again, late to the ballgame. You do not do your homework. Your accusations re; Romney's career, and subsuquent leaving of Bain to work on the Provo olympics, has already been explained. Unfortunately your blind allegiance to Obama is making you look less than smart. This is already old news, and anyone who is for Romney knows that he did not work for Bain, he left his employment there. Paperwork always takes a long time to catch up. The Obama campaign is so desperate to give Romney a black eye that they are using the most pathetically inept accusations.Obama will lose the election no matter what accusations he and his team can dream up.

Mr. Walker joins Mr. Lehigh in writing campaign speaches from the Globe's bully pulpit. No matter they write with incomplete and missing information designed to gather the votes of the caasual readers. No matter they didn't care or have any interest in Barrack Obama's rather incomplete dossier during the last primary and election season. This really would be "too funny" if their collective disingenuous "investigative journalism had even scant honesty. It not ideological ranting to politely request this publication (yes, I am a subscriber) include some balance and some sense that information that is relevant to both sides of this election issue be explored. What is important to voters today is what these candidates have demonstrated in terms of leadership and success. America today is stalled in a sea of red ink. That may not matter to true ideologues. It does, however, matter to Americans without jobs. It matters that our military is being dismantled. It matters that a majority of Americans do not support Obamacare and its future taxation and see it as a monstrous bureaucratic mess. It matters that businesses that make a profit have been demonized and class warfare is being waged. It is no talking point that Obama, Reid and Nancy have shipped more jobs into oblivion than Bain Capital ever got close to.

This is simple to resolve. All Mitt needs to do is release his income tax records for the years in question. If there are no W2s or income from being the CEO, etc--then he is clear and free. If there is a record of income and he gave it back when he retired retroactively, he is cleared.

The date of his departure from Bain is a non issue. This just another pathetic attempt by Globe hacks for Obama to influence the campaign in Obama's favor. Thankfully, most Americans see it for what it is. Was there ever this type of scrutiny on Obama in 2008? Of course not. His relationship with Jeremiah Wright was never touched. His political ascendency through the home of William Ayers was not ever touched by the Globe. Of course, as we have learned now, they matter, and would have revealed how corrupt an Obama presidency would be. NEW PARAGRAPH: Remember this rule. For s good liberal, there is no crime that is unforgivable. For a conservative, all parts of your life and your past are proof of your inherent evil. This story proves how much the Globe is locked into living this creed.

Just the die-hards here this morning. What me worry? Attack the messenger all you want, but by the time the election comes around it will be more than "democrat ideologues" doing a double take with Romney. Independents are starting to say, "Are you kidding me?" This guy is a cartoon!! You can't make this stuff up! Walker didn't even get into the offshore accounts in Bermuda and the Cayman islands. I've got lots of great quotes, here's a good one to put some spring in your step on a Monday morning:"I can't have illegals working on my property, for Pete's sake I'm running for President." L-O-L!

I love to hear the "illegals working on his property" song. Barrack's illegal Aunt is still living comfortable, although jobless, here in Massachusetts. And, where is his Illegal Uncle? And, those "offshore accounts" really??? Blather is what it is. Throw enough "paint" against the wall and some of it has to stick!

"Paperwork always takes a long time to catch up. " Is that the explanation? Fine. So which is it? Did he help manage Bain as they drove businesses under and sent jobs overseas and then lie about his involvement? Or, did he draw a healthy salary from a company for which he did absolutely nothing for years?

"Paperwork always takes a long time to catch up." Hahaha... It is very difficult to figure out exactly how long "retroactive resignations" are supposed to take! When I retired from my job, they stopped paying me in a very timely manner. I doubt I would have done any better financially if I had simply stopped showing up. How about you, Mitt?

You keep reiterating that screed like if you say it enough it will be true.

"Was there ever this type of scrutiny on Obama in 2008? Of course not. His relationship with Jeremiah Wright was never touched. His political ascendency through the home of William Ayers was not ever touched by the Globe." I'm almost certain this is untrue. Both of these topics were covered in great detail during the 2008 campaign. ... and it's not the Globe's fault you don't understand that the word 'Recession' has a real definition and can't just mean 'I feel bad' or 'I wish the economy was better.'

Romney's response is the classic "non-denial, denial."

Maybe it stick because it isn't false.

Adrian, if you had any idea how business works you might figure it out. Romney took a leave in 1999, he ran the olympics for 3 years, ran for governor in Mass. Bain capital has come out and said he had no involvement in everyday decisions. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/fact-checker/post/do-bain-sec-documents-suggest-mitt-romney-is-a-criminal/2012/07/12/gJQAlyPpgW_blog.html

So a man of Mitt's talent could only focus on the Olympics and had no time for Bain? How many of you think he would give up any and all control of a company he micro-managed and built and work 24/7 on the Olympics?

Paperwork? You mean like, SEC filings? No. They don't take 'a long time to catch up.' And when you lie on them, there are consequences. Serious consequences. This is going to be Mitt's undoing. And it's not taking smart people a long time to catch up to it.

Oddly, "Was there ever this type of scrutiny on Obama" appears to be their chief defense. It's sad, really. Of course there was. Remember the Birthers?

During the period in question, 1999 to 2001, Mitt Romney signed a filing for a company that managed medical waste – including the disposal of aborted fetuses. Having learned this, I think I can now understand why Mr. Romney, as candidate for the Republican nominee for President, wanted to distance himself from this period of Bain history. This "cloaking" of his term as CEO lessened the possibility that the campaign staffs of Mr. Santoro and Gingrich might uncover this particular investment nugget, and leverage it with their rabidly anti-abortion constituents, accordingly.

I wish I made "over $100,000" when I was on a leave of absence.

I find it interesting that Romney's signature accomplishment, apart from Mass Healthcare, was to "save" the Olympics from a scandal. He's touted this for 10 years (what else does he have?) and yet after he threw the men who had worked for the committee under the bus so that he would have an electoral platform, the judge in the case could not find any illegalities and told the defendants that "My hope," Sam told the defendants, "is that you will now be appropriately recognized and honored for your efforts.". Yet it's too important to Willard M. Romney's image for anyone to be allowed to think there was anything but a horrendous scandal and that only The Great And All-Powerful Willard of Oz could fix it.

Also, Willard's story at the time he ran for governor was that he was back and forth all the time. In Belmont but not paying any attention to Bain? This man obviously believes that enough money can erase history.

If Romney spent all that time at the Olympics, how could he truthfully substantiate his Massachusetts residency claim when he ran for Governor?

Why do the tea baggers keep insisting that evidence of Willard's character is not important in a presidential elections?
