When Hurricane Sandy delayed the arrival of Maggie Holland’s absentee ballot to her New York University dorm, the determined 21-year-old hopped a bus to Boston late Monday night and handed her ballot to her waiting mother. By 2 a.m. Tuesday she was on her way back to New York on a bus with no heat. A few hours later, her mother hand-delivered the ballot to the Weymouth town clerk, allowing Holland to participate in her first election.
