Peter Schweitzer, code breaker, photographer; loved music

On long walks or simply sitting in the sun, Peter Schweitzer let his mind roam through the world of math. As a cryptographer, he worked with companies on encryption and breaking codes, matters beyond the intellectual realm of most he encountered. Mr. Schweitzer, who also was a well-regarded freelance photographer, died Oct. 13 in Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge of a stroke. He was 80 and lived in Watertown.
