Janice McGrath, 54, passionate advocate for fellow cancer patients

Grasping the gift of the moment that is offered those with a terminal diagnosis, Janice McGrath made life seem endless. A former executive director of the New England Coalition for Cancer Survivorship, Ms. McGrath lived with cancer for 19 years, long enough to see it as a part of her path. “It’s not a death knell, it doesn’t necessarily have to be one,’’ said Lesa Lessard Pearson, her successor as executive director. “It wasn’t just a motto that she would say, it was something she lived.’’
