Alan H. Sheehan, Globe reporter and lawyer

During two decades as a Globe reporter, Alan H. Sheehan captured the colorful characters in crime and courts with lively writing. Assigned to cover Suffolk Superior Court, he was so taken by the legal profession that he decided to become a lawyer himself, and traded the newsroom for the courtroom. “He was quality,’’ said Newman Flanagan, a retired Suffolk County district attorney. “He was a perfect gentleman. Because of his legal studies background, he was able to report things from a legal point of view.’’
