Frank O’Brien Jr., 92; much loved as teacher, coach at Groton School

In the classrooms and on the playing fields of the Groton School in Groton, teacher and coach Frank O’Brien Jr. taught students English, baseball, hockey, and how to navigate the life’s challenges. President George Herbert Walker Bush, who attended Yale with Mr. O’Brien, said his “close personal friend’’ was “a great competitor and loved baseball. He had the respect of everyone who was privileged to play on the team with him. And, in life, he was a principled, clean and honorable man.’’
