Elizabeth Robinson, 91, one of Globe’s first ad takers

Elizabeth Robinson could sing, and she learned to play the piano and organ. She also dreamed of becoming a ballerina, but took a more practical route during the Great Depression and became one of the Globe’s original ad-takers, speaking with customers by phone and collecting information. After marrying, she had nine children and was the organist at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Nahant, playing for weddings, funerals, and regular services, and singing mezzo-soprano for more than 40 years.
