Mildred Lehman, launched campaign to reduce medical errors

Mildred Lehman moved to Brookline after her daughter, Globe health columnist Betsy Lehman, died as a result of receiving an overdose of chemotherapy at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Working with the Betsy Lehman Center for Patient Safety and Medical Error Reduction, Mrs. Lehman “was able to channel the grief she felt about her daughter’s loss into a very productive effort to prevent other families from having to go through the same sort of tragedy,’’ said John Auerbach, the state’s public health commissioner.
