Susan Tyrrell, actor in offbeat film roles

AUSTIN, Texas — Actress Susan Tyrrell, known for roles in offbeat films including John ­Waters’s ‘‘Cry-Baby,’’ has died at 67.

Ms. Tyrrell died Saturday in Austin. A cause of death has not been determined.

Ms. Tyrrell received an ­Oscar nomination for best supporting actress for her role as barfly Oma in John Huston’s 1972 boxing movie ‘‘Fat City.’’ She appeared in more than 75 movies and television shows.

Ms. Tyrrell spent the last 12 years in a wheelchair after her legs were amputated because of a blood clotting disorder.

Ms. Tyrrell, who was born in California, moved to Austin in 2008.
