Neil Chayet, host of ‘Looking at the Law’ radio commentaries, dies at 78

Longtime Boston radio personality Neil Chayet has died. He was 78.

Mr. Chayet’s family says he died Friday at his home in Salem after a nine-month battle against small cell cancer.

Mr. Chayet, the host of “Looking at the Law” on WBZ-AM (1030), retired in June because of his illness. The commentaries were on the air for 42 years, and more than 10,000 episodes were recorded.

Mr. Chayet, a Boston native, graduated from Tufts University and Harvard Law School, and he remained an active alumnus at both institutions.

Mr. Chayet is survived by his wife, daughter and two sons.
