Bid to hold school on MLK day fails

A move to have students attend school on Martin Luther King Jr. Day has apparently failed. The School Board voted to hold school on Jan. 16, a US holiday, to make up some of the time students lost during the October snowstorm, when schools were closed for four days. The move required an OK from the teachers’ union, which did not vote before a deadline set by the board. - Tom Long
