Free winter baseball clinic

The dates for the second annual free winter baseball clinic have been set. Malden children are invited to participate in this year’s clinic, scheduled from 4 to 5:30 p.m. for children between the ages of 5 and 9 and 5:30 to 7 p.m. for youths between the ages of 10 and 13 on Jan. 7, 14, 21, and 28, and Feb. 4 and 11. The clinic, which is being held at the Salemwood School, 529 Salem St., will be run by a coaching staff of one of the high school teams or area baseball organizations. This year’s clinic is being expanded to include a Challenger Division for children with physical and/or mental disabilities. The Challenger Division will be offered during the second session, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Also new this year, Malden West and East Little Leagues are teaming up with the Angel Baseball organization to collect new and gently used baseball gloves that will be distributed to children who may not be able to afford one and would like to play.
