The result of the season-opening meet was rather significant for the Andover High boys’ gymnastics team, a win over perennial power Braintree. The Wamps have captured eight of the last nine state championships, including last year, but Andover barely voiced a whisper in celebration of its 155.9-149.3 victory last week. ”We didn’t cheer when they announced the score,” said junior captain Brian Manning, flashing a grin at the memory. Yes, the Golden Warriors were thrilled, but also humble.
