School Committee promotes Gilligan

Thomson Elementary School principal Gregg T. Gilligan was unanimously confirmed Monday as the school department’s next assistant superintendent, effective July 1. Prior to the School Committee’s vote, chairwoman Christine Allen said, “We’re really lucky to have such talent within our own schools.” Gilligan told the committee he is looking forward to working collaboratively with principals and teachers. Gilligan is set to replace current assistant superintendent Kevin Hutchinson, who will take over as superintendent for the retiring Christopher Hottel on July 1.
