Busy election season ahead

The town election will be held May 8. Two three-year selectmen seats, now held by incumbents Michael Bulgaris and Geoffrey Walker, are on the ballot. In addition, nomination papers are available to fill one five-year term and one unexpired term until 2015 on the Planning Board (now held by Kathleen Pearson and John Weis, respectively); town clerk for three years (held by current interim clerk Leslie Haley); tree warden for one year (now held by Peter Hollis); and a three-year seat on the Triton Regional School Committee (now held by Suzanne Densmore). Also available is a three-year assessor term (incumbent is F. N. “Budd’’ Kelley III); a three-year term on the Board of Health (incumbent is Elaine Byrne); a four-year term as constable (now held by Douglas Packer); a three-year position as fish commissioner (incumbent is Paul Thistlewood); a three-year seat as trustee of the First Settlers Burial Ground (incumbent is Richard Cunningham); and two three-year terms and one two-year term as library trustee (currently held by Melissa Mashburn, Nancy Columbo, and Margaret Grimes, respectively). Prospective candidates have until March 20 to return nomination papers, and must gather at least 35 signatures from registered town voters to secure a spot on the ballot.
