Recycle swap set for March 10

SalemRecycles is holding its semiannual book swap on March 10 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the senior center, 5 Broad St. The event allows participants to recycle their unwanted books, CDs, DVDs, and videos, or other commercial media items, or take for free materials donated by others. Typically, a variety of materials are dropped off during the swaps, ranging from adult and children’s fiction and nonfiction books to cooking, gardening, and art books, to greeting cards and calendars. In last fall’s book swap, about 300 people participated and an estimated three tons of materials was dropped off. Anyone who wants to drop off items for the upcoming swap can do so during the event or the night before, March 9, from 6 to 7 p.m. No swap is required: People can drop off, take away, or both. For more information, go to salem.com/recycling, or greensalem.com, or call 978-619-5679. - John Laidler
