Art, stage legacy on display at school

Burlington High School plans to establish a permanent display of theatrical posters with the help of a grant from the Burlington Education Foundation. The $1,505 grant is funding the cost of reproducing, mounting, matting, and framing the posters, created by graphic design students for spring musicals for the last seven years. The exhibition of the posters, which were a joint effort between art department chairman George Ratkevich and musical artistic director John Middleton-Cox, will be unveiled on the school’s Fogelberg Performing Arts Center stage at 7:30 p.m. March 23, opening night of “Kiss Me Kate.” School administrators, foundation members, and current and past student artists who created the posters will join Suzanne Borin, the exhibition director and a foreign language teacher at the school, for the unveiling. The display will remain in the performing arts center’s lobby during the run of “Kiss Me Kate,’’ and will then be mounted in a prominent location. Posters created in subsequent years will be added. - John Laidler
