Public hearing on demolition

The City Council is scheduled to resume a public hearing Tuesday on a special permit application by Gold Star Homes, LLC to demolish a three-family home at 960 Main St. and replace it with a four-unit, two-story town house. Due to the age of the house, which was built in 1840, the applicant would need to go before the Historical Commission prior to demolition. If the commission determines the house is of historic value, it could order a delay in the demolition of up to a year, according to city clerk William Campbell. Also Tuesday, the council will hold hearings on special permit applications by Ron Martignetti to store personal vehicles and water craft in a metal frame building at 10 John St., and Fellsway Foreign Motors to locate a foreign automobile repair shop in a vacant building at 300 Cambridge St.
