Board studying three finalists

The School Committee will be conducting interviews and site visits as it considers three finalists to replace the retiring superintendent, Susan King. On Wednesday, the board’s search committee, composed of district staff members, parents and two Rockport High students, presented its favorite candidates from a group of 47 applicants. The finalists are John Alberghini, superintendent of the Chittenden East Supervisory Union district in Vermont; Jon Bernard, principal of North Reading High School; and Robert Liebow, superintendent of the Mount Desert Island Regional School System in Maine. The finalists are scheduled to participate in a public interview at 6 p.m. Monday at the middle/high school library. -David Rattigan
