Street cleaners return Monday

The city will be resuming its street-sweeping program Monday and continuing it through Nov. 30. All streets will be covered, but main thoroughfares, including Shirley Avenue, Broadway, Revere Street, and Beachmont Square, will be swept more frequently. Residential neighborhoods are scheduled from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays. Parking restrictions will be in effect according to posted signs. During the first month, vehicles parked on streets scheduled for sweeping will be ticketed and towed. Residents are asked to do their part by sweeping their sidewalks before street sweeping is scheduled in their area. Mayor Daniel Rizzo also is inviting residents to join in the second annual Revere Shines Citywide Clean-Up Day. At the April 28 event, volunteers will be cleaning up trash and doing other beautification in parks and playgrounds across the city. - John Laidler
