Republicans to elect leaders

The Republican Town Committee will hold its reorganization meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the central fire station on High Street. The reorganization follows the March 6 election of committee members. It will include electing a committee chairman, a secretary, and a treasurer, all to serve for four years. While only committee members can vote, the meeting is open to any registered Republican or any unenrolled voter interested in registering as a Republican, including residents who would like to join the committee. The March 6 balloting left seven seats on the 35-member committee unfilled, and under state law the committee has the power to fill those positions through elections at their meetings. The session also will include a discussion of the April 28 6th Congressional District caucus to choose area delegates to the 2012 Republican National Convention, set to be held Aug. 27 to Aug. 30 in Tampa.
