Veteran timers remember past Boston Marathons
Marathon workers give the official word at finish line
Three local veterans of the Massachusetts Track and Field Officials Association recently discussed the many famous Boston Marathon moments they have witnessed. They’ve seen a myriad of changes, including electronic timing and an explosion in the size of the field. There were 1,014 runners in 1968 - the first year the field was more than 1,000 - and will be about 27,000 this year.
