Join cleanup at Breakheart

A spring cleanup will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the state’s Breakheart Reservation on Forest Street. The event is being jointly organized by the Saugus River Watershed Council, the Saugus Clergy Association, and the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, which operates the 640-acre reservation. In addition to being an Earth Day observance, the cleanup is part of the state’s Park Serve Day. Volunteers will be removing trash in different locations around the park and clearing trails. The Saugus Garden Club, Saugus Action Volunteers for the Environment, and the Friends of Breakheart Reservation also are organizing activities. For more information, e-mail Joan LeBlanc, director of the Saugus River Watershed Council, at srw@shore.net. - John Laidler
