Liaison program launched

Police Chief Steven Mazzie recently disclosed a new community policing initiative. The Lieutenant Liaison Program is designed to provide residents from the city’s neighborhoods with points of contact in the department with whom they can discuss quality of life issues and other matters relating to their areas. A lieutenant has been assigned to each of the city’s six wards. “This initiative is not designed to take the place of 911 and should not be used in an emergency. Rather, this gives residents a name and a face to whom they can address quality of life issues within their respective neighborhoods,’’ Mazzie said in a prepared statement. Residents can find which lieutenant is assigned to their ward by going to everettpolicema.com and selecting the Lieutenant Liaison link.
