Selectmen’s race tops quiet election

There are three candidates for one selectman’s seat on the ballot for the April 28 town election. Assessor Perry Barrasso, former School Committee member Mickey Long, and School Committee member Dave Wilson are vying for the spot being vacated by Lainey Titus, who currently chairs the board. Residents also will vote in uncontested races for moderator, town clerk, assessor, public library trustee, constable, School Committee, Housing Authority, and three seats on the Planning Board (only one of which has a candidate on the ballot). Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Town Hall. The town also has scheduled its annual Town Meeting the same day, beginning at 12:30 p.m. There are 28 items on the warrant, including one to make the town clerk’s position appointed, not elected. - David Rattigan
