Help clean up Saturday

Residents can help spruce up the city. Everett is holding its annual citywide spring cleanup day Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. Volunteers will be removing litter and doing other beautification work at parks, tot lots, and entranceways to the city. Participants are asked to meet at 8 a.m. at the Parlin Memorial Library, 410 Broadway, to pick up their assignments. The city will provide breakfast snacks and lunch. Those taking part are asked to bring work gloves. The event is a joint initiative of Mayor Carlo DeMaria Jr., the Everett Beautification Committee, and the Everett Kiwanis Club. Officials note that with the city’s yard waste collection program set to resume next week, residents can also contribute to the cleanup day by sprucing up their own yards. - John Laidler
