Local scout makes the grade

Local resident Richie Crowe of Boy Scout Troop 513 was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout during a Court of Honor ceremony last month. Crowe, who joined the scouts in first grade and now serves as assistant scoutmaster of his troop, earned the rank by overseeing a project to improve two paths leading to the Middle and Central schools. The work was completed over several months, with help from many local scouts, parents, and adult volunteers. Throughout the project, Crowe led groups of three to 12 volunteers. To become Eagle Scouts, candidates must complete a leadership service project that benefits the community. Troop 513 is based in First Congregational Church. The troop is open to all boys between the ages of 11 and 17. For more information, contact scoutmaster Tom Crowe at tpcrowe@comcast.net or at 781-438-2570. - Brenda J. Buote
