Police teach rape defense
The Wilmington Police Department is scheduled to hold a free Rape Aggression Defense System course next month. The course consists of four classes, which will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on May 7, 9, 14, and 16 at the Shriners Auditorium, 99 Fordham Road. Instructors will discuss situational awareness, how to avoid confrontation, and how to react to confrontation when it cannot be avoided. The class also covers sexual assaults, dating relationships, domestic assaults, and other types of attacks and confrontations. This class is open to women at least 15 years of age. Those under the age of 18 must have a consent form signed by a parent or guardian to take part in the course.
