Four city educators were recognized during the Lawrence Rotary Club’s 14th annual Teacher of the Year awards banquet. In each of two categories, Elementary School and Junior/Senior High School,a Teacher of the Year was named, as well as a Rising Star. Teacher of the Year winners were Margaret Chanquet, a fifth- through eighth-grade English Language Learners teacher at the Henry K. Oliver School, and Lee Ann Canzano,who teaches fifth-grade math and science at the Alexander B. Bruce School. Rising Star winners were Donna Balaourus,a fifth-grade special education teacher at the Alexander B. Bruce School, and Sean Murphy,a fifth- through eighth-grade performing arts teacher at the Edward F. Parthum Middle School.
