Public meeting on high school project Tuesday

The town has scheduled a public meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the high school auditorium to provide updates on the ongoing Winchester High School feasibility study. The town’s Education Facilities Planning and Building Committee, together with the Massachusetts School Building Authority, in January selected the design and management team of Symmes, Maini McKee Associates and Skanska, an international firm based in Sweden, to oversee the study. The scope of the work, as established by the building authority, is limited to conceptual phase work, including existing condition assessments, educational programming, building site analyses, and conceptual design options. The facilities committee and School Committee are expected to submit to the authority in late 2012 a preferred solution — to renovate existing space or build a new high school — for review and approval by the state agency’s executive board.
