A proposed Housing Production Plan will be the subject of a public meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Housing Authority’s offices at Saunders Circle. The plan, which is being developed by the town’s Local Housing Partnership in collaboration with the Northern Middlesex Council of Governments, outlines a strategy for Tewksbury to meet the requirement set under the state law Chapter 40B of having 10 percent of its housing stock affordable. Cities and towns below the 10 percent threshold that have a state-approved plan and meet housing production goals gain the power to control affordable housing development in their communities. At the Wednesday meeting, the public will hear a presentation on the plan and have the opportunity to comment. The draft will then be presented to the Planning Board on June 18 and the Board of Selectmen on June 19. Should the two boards endorse it, a final plan will be submitted to the state Department of Housing and Community Development for approval.
