North Andover

Town Meeting starts Tuesday

Town Meeting is scheduled at 7 p.m. Tuesday in North Andover High School. It will be the first annual Town Meeting run by newly elected town moderator Mark S. DiSalvo. It will also be the first time residents speaking on an issue will be required to disclose any financial interests they have relating to that matter. DiSalvo has said he hopes the new rule brings more transparency to Town Meeting. Among the articles on the warrant is a bylaw amendment that would require applicants of certain town licenses to submit to a criminal background check that would include being fingerprinted by police. Voters will also decide on a citizens’ petition requesting that the town reduce its 3 percent Community Preservation Act tax surcharge to 1.5 percent.
