Library announces art contest

In celebration of the town’s 282d anniversary of incorporation, the Wilmington Memorial Library is sponsoring a contest for artworks featuring scenes around the community. Entries in the “Wilmington Through Art’’ contest must be original, hand-produced pieces, such as drawings or paintings (photography and sculpture will not be accepted), and must represent Wilmington. Examples are Town Common, Silver Lake, town buildings, and historical sites. The contest is open to high school students and adults, both professional and amateur. There is no entry fee, and artists may submit more than one piece. The deadline for submitting art and entry forms is Sept. 15; the town’s official anniversary is Sept 25. Cash prizes of $100, $75, and $50 will be awarded to the first-, second-, and third-place winners. For more information or to download an entry form, visit www.wilmlibrary.org.
