City Council to hold hearing on Bartholomew St. conversion

The City Council will hold a public hearing June 28 on several matters, including a special permit application by Henry and Brendan Labrecque to convert a building at 71 Bartholomew St. to a duplex. The building, located in a residential area, until recently was used for a dance studio, according to City Clerk Timothy Spanos. In other business, the council will examine an application by North Shore Taxi, 27 Walnut St., to amend its existing taxicab license in order to add four licenses to its existing fleet of eight. Also on the agenda is an application by Su Chang’s, a Chinese restaurant at 373 Lowell St., for an entertainment license. The license would allow the restaurant to install televisions, and to offer music performed live or played by disc jockeys. The board will also look at an application from Stahl USA, at 13 Corwin St. The company is currently licensed to store 10,000 gallons of diesel fuel at that location for use in heating the building. It seeks to amend the license to allow it to additionally store 75,000 gallons of paint and paint-related materials, and 2,500 gallons of solvent, according to Spanos.
