Independence Day celebration to be held June 23

The city is inviting residents to the annual Independence Day Celebration on Saturday at Glendale Park, on Elm and Ferry streets. The event will run from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and feature children’s foot races, amusement rides, and a doll carriage and bike decorating contest. The city is planning the event in collaboration with the Everett Crimson Tide Pop Warner Carnival, which is being held at Glendale Park from June 15 to 23. Those attending the city celebration also can enjoy the carnival rides. Also in conjunction with the celebration, the city will be kicking off its summer concert series, with performances by three acts performing at Glendale Park. The shows will be at 1, 4, and 8 p.m. Saturday. The 8 p.m. performance will feature James Massone of Boston, who participated in the NBC music competition show “The Voice.”
