Starting July 9, North Shore Community College is offering a “Summer of Discovery” program for children in grades 1 through 5 on its Danvers campus on Ferncroft Road. Classes will take place from Monday to Thursday in full- and half-day sessions. In “The Magical World of Harry Potter,” students will “brew up delicious potions, go on owl hunts, and learn a few magic tricks,” according to organizers. In another, “Animal Lovers,” students will take part in hands-on classes with friendly animals. There also will be cooking classes and “Transformer Fun with Lego Robotics.” Early registration is recommended. For a complete list of courses, go to community.northshore.edu/youth_programs.html. The program runs for four weeks but participants sign up on a week-by-week basis. The cost is $119 for half-day weeks, $238 for full. For more information, contact Nancy Tracy, the college’s youth program coordinator, at 978-236-1232 or ntracy@northshore.edu.
