Seniors 60 and over who would like to participate in the town’s property tax work-off program should complete an application before the end of the month and attend a mandatory information meeting at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Senior Center. The program allows eligible seniors to volunteer to work at least 93 hours with various town departments and receive a $675 abatement on their property taxes. Applicants must own and live in the property on which the tax is exempted. There is no income limit for the first qualified owner. A second owner of the property may earn the exemption if his or her gross income is $20,000 if single, and $30,000 if married. The program for the upcoming fiscal year begins July 1. Applications can be found on the town website, www.andoverma.gov, and must be submitted to Katherine Urquhart, director of elder services at the Senior Center, before 2 p.m. on June 29.
