The city’s newest park is scheduled to open Thursday. The quarter-acre recreation area on the corner of Ledge and Pine streets has yet to be named. It cost about $450,000 in city and federal money and features a fountain, walking paths, checkerboards, climbing rocks, and an area that will be flooded in the winter for ice skating. It is on the former site of the Labine Building, which was destroyed by fire in February 2010. An opening ceremony is scheduled for 5 p.m.
