Planning Board to discuss Bobby’s Burger Palace coming to mall

At its meeting beginning 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Town Hall, the Planning Board will consider a request by the Bobby’s Burger Palace to accommodate its plan to locate one of its restaurants in the Burlington Mall. The chain, which is owned by celebrity chef Bobby Flay, is preparing to move into the mall space formerly occupied by Eddie Bauer. Bobby’s seeks approval for a minor engineering change to the existing building to add a grease trap and an exterior door, and a special permit to allow it to operate as a fast-food restaurant, according to Don Benjamin, a staff member in the Planning Department. Also at the meeting, the board will resume a public hearing on a proposed expansion of Beacon Village, the 420-unit housing complex off Beacon Street. First Patriot Corp., which owns the complex, is applying for a special permit to develop 60 additional apartments and one single-family home on another part of the site. It is also seeking approval under subdivision rules to construct a new road providing access from Peach Orchard Road to the proposed new development area. An existing single-family house would be razed to make way for the road.
