Mill Pond Dam rebuilding plans move forward

Work should begin on the $1.3 million Mill Pond Dam project by mid-July, according to Joe Parisi, the town’s public works director. The Board of Selectmen recently reached an agreement with the Massachusetts Emergency Management Agency, which will administrate the $1 million in federal funds being used to rebuild the dam. The structure failed during the Mother’s Day storm of 2006. The rest of the money will come from the town, which plans to build a modern dam that is historically consistent with the local landmark.
