Town officials are asking local residents to offer their opinions on the future of the town forest, Reading’s open space and recreation areas, and local housing production. The Town Forest Committee is working with the Massachusetts Audubon Ecological Extension Service to complete a natural resource inventory and management plan. As part of that plan, town officials would like to better understand how residents use the town forest. The town also is seeking input to help shape the town’s open space and recreation plan, and to develop new goals and strategies for keeping Reading on track to meet the state’s guideline that communities ensure at least 10 percent of their housing is affordable to those earning low-to-moderate incomes.
