Ramirez to retire from Council on Aging

Judith E. Ramirez, who has served the town as a social worker at the Council on Aging for nearly 12 years, will retire Saturday. She was honored Friday with a reception at the Cameron Senior Center. Ramirez also was honored at the State House last month as the 2012 Westford Unsung Heroine by the Massachusetts Commission on the Status of Women. Ramirez was nominated by state Representative Jim Arciero for her work at the council, for her involvement in Alzheimer’s-related causes, and as the first woman to chair the Westford Recreation Commission, a role she served in the 1980s and 1990s. Ramirez also was recognized as a mentor to young women who aspire to careers in social work.
