The International Sports Engineering Conference, set before the start of the Summer Olympic Games in London, will run July 9 through July 13 at the UMass Lowell Inn and Conference Center. Featuring presentations by global sports science experts, the conference is taking place in the United States for only the second time in its 16-year history. Headline speakers include Lynchburg (Va.) College physics professor John Eric Goff, author of “Gold Medal Physics: The Science of Sports,” John Brenkus of ESPN's “Sport Science,” Bruce Jahnke of K2 Sports, a designer of outdoor sports gear, and Wolfram Meyer of the Federation Internationale de Football Association. Topics will focus on the ways in which high-tech materials, instrumentation, and evaluation techniques can improve performance. For more information, visit sportsengineering.co.uk.
